GRAB DRINKS WITH A VIEW (AFTER A BIT OF WINDOW-SHOPPING)

hong kong

  • Enjoy a glass of champagne with a view of Hong Kong’s famous architecture
  • Savor wine and cheese, accompanied by a view to envy

If it’s a tipple with a side of glittering city vistas you’re after, make your way to Prince’s Building in Central. Before heading upstairs, we suggest a visit to Tabla. The boutique’s boho-chic caftans, by Hong Kong designer Tania Mohan, would be suited to a weekend in Ibiza, Phuket, or East Hampton. Next, it’s up to the 25th-floor penthouse and Sevva to join Hong Kong’s movers and shakers for happy hour. A glass of champagne in hand, you can play name-the-starchitect’s-masterpiece. Yes, that’s Norman Foster’s Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank headquarters (HSBC to you and me) there—and that one with all the sexy angles? It’s the Bank of China Tower, by none other than I.M. Pei. A few blocks away, you’ll find On Lan Street, a little lane that’s become home to a veritable trove of chic European fashion designers: Christian Louboutin, Rupert Sanderson, Gianvito Rossi, and Isabel Marant to name a few. (It’s off Wyndham Street, just behind the big Mark’s & Spencer.) There, on the 29th floor of a nondescript office building, you’ll find ON DINING, Kitchen & Lounge. Even their extensive wine list and cheese offerings (unusual in dairy-starved Hong Kong) won’t distract from the killer views from either the indoor or outdoor lounges.

Nestled next to a trio of delightful parks, walk through these wide open spaces as you make your way down Bank Street. When you see the vast HSBC Headquarters, you’re just a few minutes away. Prince’s Building sits on the corner, where you’ll find Tabla and Sevva.
